Italian Bread for the Bread Machine

"I am in Australia at the moment & my sister has a bread machine. I wanted to try a flavored loaf & this was the result. You could also add a handful of black olives if you'd like which I would have, but my sister doesn't like them. The prep time includes 40mins to roast the garlic, & 20mins to chop, grate, etc. all add-ins. Cook time is for the machine."

 1. Delicious and perfect with pasta! We served this bread with Ricotta and Spinach Stuffed Pasta Shells recipe#39292 and received rave reviews. I made a few slight changes in the recipe--such as using 1 tsp garlic salt and 1 tsp garlic powder in place of regular salt and garlic cloves. I also eliminated the bread improver because I didn't know what it was and used only 1 tsp pepper. To allow for my higher elevation I used only 1 tsp yeast. The bread came out perfectly and we will definitely be making this again soon.

 2. Very flavorful and easy to put together. The smell while baking made me so hungry! Very tasty. Thanks for posting. Made for I Recommend Tag Game.

 3. Oh my, this smelt wonderful while it was cooking in the bread machine. I kept to the recipe didn't change a thing but if I make it again I would defiantly add the oregano and black pepper with the flour to distribute evenly through the bread. This was so yummy plain or with butter. Thank you MrsSPheonix

 4. Great bread and everyone loved it! My sister came over and smelled the bread while cooling so I had to slice her a piece. I did not use bread improver because I was not sure what it was. Didnt have any roasted garlic or red onion so I used minced garlic and dried onion. Wonderful crunchy crust and the inside of the bread was tender. Sliced perfectly and would be great for sandwiches. Thank you for posting MrsSPhoenix!

I am an Aussie married to my wonderful American husband since 2002. I no longer work having been retired on medical grounds. My main hobby would be cooking and collecting recipes (one can never have enough cookbooks)! We have 2 cute kitties named Jerzee & Zebu, who bring me great joy. I also enjoy watching sports, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. I like almost all types of music, & would go to more concerts if I had more money. Having been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year I am really focussing on eating more & more unprocessed foods. The irony is that I never really had a sweet tooth & now that I've been told to avoid sugar, suddenly alln things sweet seem so delicious!!! Now that I have more time I plan on cooking more frequently & also trying some more time-consuming recipes.
