Spaghetti Side Dish

"I like this recipe because it is really easy and economical. My Mom used to make it for us when she couldn't stand to make potatoes or rice one more time."

  • In the same pot that you cooked the pasta, add olive oil, butter, garlic and parsley.
  • Heat on low until butter melts.
  • Add bread crumbs slowly until a thick paste forms.
  • Add cooked spahetti and toss well to coat.
  • If it is a little too dry you can add a little pasta water.
  • If you like, add a little of the hot pepper flakes.
  • Serve as a side for just about anything.
  • This is a fast, easy, different side dish.

  1. Very easy and very good. The only thing that I did differently was to add some Pecorino Romano cheese. Everyone loved it.

  2. Very easy, nice, simple recipe. Next time I will increase ratio of butter to olive oil, as the EVOO taste was too strong. Be sure to add salt and pepper, especially if using unsalted butter.

  3. I absolutely love this recipe and am so glad to have found it. I always add some chopped broccoli with the spaghetti for the last couple minutes. Sometimes I mix up the butter/oil and bread crumbs in a bowl and then just add the goo to the cooked spaghetti. Just as good and just as easy. I always use fresh garlic, too. This goes well with grilled or roasted shrimp, or baked chicken, or steak, or.....? It really is a great all-purpose side, and I have to rate it 5 stars given how many times I've made it!

  4. Wonderful!!! I added 3 bulion cubes to the water while boiling the noodles. I also made it one night with old bay seasoning in the water and added shrimp to it. Awesome!
