Italian Casserole Bread

ingredients
- 1 cup skim milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 egg white
- 2 1⁄4 cups Bisquick Heart Smart mix
- 2 green onions
- 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1 -2 ounce reduced-fat cheddar cheese (Shredded or cubed into 1/4 inch cubes, apx 1/4-1/2 cup) (optional)
directions
- Heat oven to 375 & grease a 1.5 qt round casserole dish.
- Combine milk, melted butter & egg white, beating until smooth.
- Stir in remaining ingredients just until Bisquick is moistened; it'll be lumpy.
- Pour into prepared dish & bake 35 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
- Cool 5 minutes, remove from pan to wire rack. Serve warm or allow to cool.

When I told my guests I was going to make bread for our Christmas dinner, everyone scoffed! This recipe is so quick and simple, yet everyone loved the result. The bread is made with Bisquick, so it has somewhat of a biscuit texture, but the cheese adds creaminess and makes for a soft inside. The crispy crust was nice not dry. I served the bread along with the Absolute Best Ever Lasagna and Italian Chopped Salad recipes, also found on Food.com. Highly recommend.

I was a little unsure, afraid I would get something akin to a pan of biscuits, but we loved this. I left out the Italian seasoning, since we were having a rotisserie style chicken, and used Bisquick Clone Recipe #12648. The texture was perfect, a cross between a bread and a biscuit, and we all loved the flavor. So easy to whip up to go with dinner, too! Thanks for posting!

Excellent bread recipe; easy enough for a week night. I was making a drab sort of meal tonight -- jarred pasta sauce and a home-made caesar salad and wanted to add a bit of a kick. This was the highlight of the meal. I used 2T of egg beaters instead of egg white and used 1 1/4 t of Delello's Roasted Garlic and Cheese Dipping Spices in place of the garlic & italian seasoning. I also used 1 ounce of cheddar and 1 ounce of asaigo. 35 minutes later we had yum!

<br>I work full-time at a university in Wisconsin, it allows me to travel a bit and see the rest of the state, I work with a lot a great people and am really happy in my job.

<br>When I'm not working, I spend time with my hubby and 12 year old son. My son has picked up my love for cooking, a few of the things he makes are - naan bread, cookies, and quick breads, I'm so proud of him! In our family we also have two cocker spaniels, our puppy Laci (above) and Peanut, that we adore like they were our children.

<br>We live in an old farm house that we are remodeling (did the library and the kitchen so far....) on the outskirts of town. Close enough where my hubby can bike to work in the summer, but far enough away from campus that we don't have to lock down our lawn ornaments in fear of college pranks!
